CDDM

The Collectif de défense des droits de la Montérégie (CDDM) is a regional community advocacy organization whose mission is to PROMOTE and ensure RESPECT of the individual and collective rights of PEOPLE who live or have lived with a MENTAL HEALTH problem.

Our areas of action

Beyond the individual assistance and support we provide, we are very concerned with issues that undermine fundamental rights and have significant social impacts, including:

Legal exceptions that violate fundamental rights:

  • Court-ordered treatment
  • Confinement in an institution (P-38)
  • Isolation and restraint

Social control and mental health:

  • The biomedical model: the dominant model in psychiatry
  • Alternative approaches to mental health
  • The social determinants of health
